10/31/2010 Happy Halloween!

I was so tired I let Klif feed Will when he woke up at 1. I fed Will again at 4:30, and when he started fussing at 6:15 I was NOT ready to get up. I tried the swing, which was fine when the pacifier was in, but that only lasted until just when I was about to fall asleep...

I finally resorted to giving him a little more formula, which did the trick! He (and I) conked back out until 10:30. I didn't really want to sleep that long, but I'll take it!

Will was wide awake this afternoon while I finished icing cupcakes and cookies.
(Please disregard the duct-taped fireplace. We believe there is a wasp nest inside.) We headed out about 2:45 for a Halloween party at Jeremiah and Nichole's. There was good food and lots of people just hanging out and having a good time.

Klif even dressed up as an EMT! Will was a football and Lily was a bumblebee, and they each got a goody bag full of treats from Nana and Pa.

We all headed out in time to get home for trick-or-treaters at 5. We spent the evening handing out candy to ninjas, monsters, and an adorable little mermaid.

Mom and dad stopped by for a bit and watched football and held Will. Before long the night was winding down and it was time to get ready for bed. We had a bit of a scare tonight while will was eating before bed. Klif was sitting in the rocker feeding him and I was in the room dealing with laundry and preparing for the next day. Will had stopped eating, and by the time we noticed and pulled the bottle out of his mouth, he had a mouth full of pooled milk, gagged, and a lot of milk came back up. The worst part was that it took him a few seconds to take in his first breath again after gagging. Scary! He definitely got Klif good!

He finally got calmed back down, but I was listening to the monitor all night!

10/30/10

Once again Will slept for 4.5 hours, then 3.5 hours, then 2 hours. That first long stretch is great!
Today we are hanging out at the house, making cupcakes and cookies, and just catching up on some household needs.

We are trying to get in some tummy time each day when Will is awake, as per the pediatrician's suggestion.

Megan and Caleb stopped by for a bit to visit.

As is his fashion when anyone else is around, Will stayed fast asleep until they were ready to leave.

They finally caught a glimpse of his eyes just before heading out.

We then worked on finishing up our cookies (which at times was tough carrying an 8.5lb baby!) And then waited for daddy to get home. Tonight I finally caught one of his smiles on camera.
Wasn't one of his biggest, but at least I got it! Will was out by 9:15, and completely exhausted, I wasn't far behind!

10/29/2010

Semi-success! Will slept 4.5 hours before waking us for food. However, the next stretch was only 2.5, and the last was 3.5. A good first night, though! Will's umbilical cord fell off at some point in the night, and I found it in his onesie this morning.

Klif went back to work today so Will and I headed to Jeremiah and Nichole's shortly after we go up since Nana was there watching Lily.

A play date we had scheduled was canceled due to a sniffly play buddy, but we headed out anyway because Nichole needed some paperwork brought to her from her house.

We visited Aunt Nichole at her school,

and then headed to the mall for some lunch and browsing.

Lily had a blast in the kids area, and Will was content just being carried everywhere.

At the Stride Rite store, the cashier gave Lily a cute bunny sticker. After a little more browsing, Lily was ready to crash so we headed to the car. It was only then that we noticed the tiny pieces of sticker remnants on her fingers and around her mouth. Yay fiber!

We went back to Jeremiah and Nichole's for the rest of the afternoon and Will decided it was finally time to wake up when it was time to leave. At home we just relaxed. Klif came home halfway through the 8 o'clock feeding and finished it before putting Will to bed.

10/28/2010

Last night was a little rough. After all of the pacifier replacing with no avail, I moved Will to his swing, where he slept until his midnight meal. Last night we decided to try waiting 4 hours between feedings since we were having to wake him up every other night. After that feeding he slept just fine in his crib. I had my alarm set for 4am and he decided at 3:40 that he was ready for more food. After that we had another fussy spell, which was only eventually calmed by swaddling him in his new fleece swaddler.

Since we had a rough night we slept in until about 10:30, then got up to get ready for our 1 week check up. Klif got home just in time to go with us.

The check up went great. Will now weighs 8lbs. 3oz. and is 21" long.

The doctor had nothing but praises for his progress, and even said that we no longer needed to wake him during the night to feed him, that he would let us know when he is ready.

The rest of the day has just been relaxing, cleaning, and hanging out!

Will got his second bath and once again screamed through most of it. His umbilical cord is hanging by a thread!

I am looking forward to the possibility of getting more than 3 hours of sleep at once!

10/27/2010

Will started stirring about 9am so I brought him into the bassinet in our room. We all slept in until about 10 and then just shared some relaxing time in bed until 11.

After eating, Will helped with laundry.

We headed to KFC for lunch, thanks to a free sandwich coupon,

and then to Kroger for some much needed groceries and supplies.

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing, cleaning, sorting, and updating.

Will loves hanging out in his swing we borrowed, and unless it is nearing meal time he never makes a peep!

We decided to put Will down after his 8pm feeding tonight instead of the 11pm. This did not go over well. I spent 40 minutes replacing a dropped pacifier for a fussy baby. I'm going to be tired tomorrow!

10/26/2010

Another successful night! We woke up to tornado warnings and spent the morning getting ready while always being prepared to head to the bathroom if needed.

At 11 we headed to Panera for lunch to meet some of Nana's friends. After a nice lunch we did some more errand running.

We made some returns and exchanges, got Will's name printed on his bible, and finally found some more formula. We stopped by grandpa's office for a quick meal and change and then headed back to Nana and Grandpa's to pack up.

Soon we were on our way home! Mom and dad dropped us off and helped to get our bags upstairs and get us settled. They headed out to stop by and visit Lily before heading back to Muncie.

Will and I settled into the recliner for a movie. It was a nice relaxing evening together while we waited for Klif to get off work.

Klif was very happy to see Will after a couple of days away. Will had some daddy time and I took time to get a long hot shower.

We all settled into bed after Will's 11 o'clock feeding, ready for a good night's sleep!

10/25/2010

I slept in until 9:30 after handing Will off to grandpa at 6:30.

Angie and Doug came by and visited for a while and brought gifts.

After our visitors headed out, we loaded up and grabbed some lunch. We then drove over to Maxon where I used to work so that some of the people I used to work with could meet Will. It was great seeing them after so long, and I think they enjoyed the baby time.

We ran a couple of quick errands, and stopped in again at great-grandma Rachel's for a diaper change. We then stopped by Target where we finally found some more Similac (thank goodness!) and went to Walgreen's to print some pictures.

Josh and Jill wanted to meet for dinner so we headed over to Pizza King (starting him off right :) and met them and Grandpa.

After dinner we made one last stop at Martha Jean's house for a quick visit, and then headed back to Nana and Grandpa's for the evening. Once again, through all of the running, Will was great. Will was awake for a very long time this evening, and even had two HUGE smiles for grandpa while he was awake. Will is now sharing some TV time with grandpa before his 11 o'clock feeding and we are all hoping that tonight goes as well as the last couple of nights!

10/24/2010

Klif got up early and headed out to work, while mom and I packed for the weekend. Jeremiah and Nichole brought Lily over to get in some visiting time with Will. Lily showed off her new vocab ("Baby Will!") and played with his toys while Nichole fed him.

Mom and I headed out about 10:45 and stopped by Klif's work so that Klif could show Will off and get in a proper good-bye before we headed out. Then we were off to Kokomo for Grandma Cooper's birthday lunch. We met Uncle Mike and Terri at Grandma's and then headed out to Pastarrific for lunch.

Once again, Will never made a peep.

We went back to Grandma's for some cake, and visited with great-great-aunts Gloria and Juanita.

We soon loaded back into the car and headed Muncie. We stopped by great-grandma Rachel's and visited before heading to Nana and Pa's for the night.

We got Will settled into his crib and I got up for each feeding and changing until 6:30am when I handed him of to Grandpa so I could get a few more hours of sleep. For the second night in a row Will slept very soundly, and I had to set alarms to wake myself up to feed him on schedule!

10/23/2010

Due Date! Klif and I were up at 7:00 to get ready for Will's first check-up at the pediatrician. We gave him his first quick sponge bath, which he definitely didn't like, but didn't hate as much as I thought he would.
Klif dressed Will while I got ready, and soon we were out the door, leaving mom and dad behind to catch up on some sleep after their long night. The pediatrician visit went great. First Will christened their exam table while were were getting him stripped to get weighed. He weighed in at 7lbs 15 oz, only 4oz less than at birth! Everything checked out perfectly and we were soon on our way!

We stopped by a few stores to pick up a few more much needed items, and Will didn't make a peep the entire time. He loves to be in his car seat. Back home we rested a little and spent some time next doorwith our neighbors who had their daughter in late July. They had to switch their daughter onto a special formula and sent us home with all of their Similac (a lot!) and a grocery bag full of newborn diapers! Wow!

Next we all loaded into the car and got some lunch at Culver's and then spent some time at Walgreen's printing out some of the seemingly billions of photos from the last few days. Once again, Will never made a sound! We spent the rest of the the day at home, relaxing. I took some time to shower and relax in the recliner. We gave Will his first bath with nighttime soap and lotion just before bed.

I took the early morning feeding shifts and mom took over at 3 so that Klif could get a good night's sleep before returning to work!

Will slept so well tonight, that he was an hour late for one of his feedings! I kept waiting for him to fuss and wake me up, and finally my mom came in to check and see if the schedule got messed up (I was supposed to get her when I was done with the late feeding). He was still so asleep we had to wake him feed him! The whole night he slept great, getting us all some much needed rest.
